Wrong paint color??
I have someone here working on my bathroom & doing some painting. He was here all day yesterday, he already finished regrouting the bathtub and chalking it. It looks great. He spackled and primed the two hallways, as well as the bathroom. He also painted the bathroom. Now here is my dilemna. The color of the paint on the walls doesn't look like I wanted it to look! The 'Cozy Throw' color I picked which on the sample looks like a warm cream/beige, has a pink undertone to it. It looks somewhat like pink adobe clay! This is the second time this happened to me when picking a 'beigey' color and I had the same results. Didn't look pinkish/clayish, but on the wall it did. The first time I just let it go and kept it and it ended up looking nice in the living room. But now, it just isn't what I wanted for the bathroom and it looks so similiar to the living room. What should I do? Do you think Lowe's lets you "return" paint? I feel bad asking hime to paint it again a different color.

Re: Wrong paint color??
Lowe's ROCKS!!! They took back my half used gallon of paint and gave me a brand new gallon, a totally different color. The guy helped me pick a beige that had no pink undertones, he even checked it on the computer. I will let you know how it goes once it is up. This one is called Cincinnatian Hotel Nichols Taupe, so hopefully we won't see any signs of pink. I can't believe how cool they were about it. I had called the 800 number who then connected me to my store manager, since they weren't sure. The manager told me to bring it in and they would remix it or let me pick another color. The guy at the paint desk just had me pick another color since he said it was mixed right, but the color had pink undertones. YIPPEE!!

Re: Wrong paint color??
I just had my new condo painted last week. We bought the small Benjamin Moore samples for the colors they had and then had them mix quarts of several colors for us and tested them on the walls until we found what we wanted. In one room we had six different colors! We went with a tan in one room that we had the same "pink" problem with - the quarts were a life saver!

Re: Wrong paint color??
Next time I am definately doing the samples from BM! I almost did it this time, but didn't and just went by the paint chips. I never knew picking a beige/neutral could be so difficult. After this though, we are all done painting!!! That is, until we decide to repaint, LOL. Which I am sure DH would be thrilled to hear.
I will definately post pics when it is done.

Wow, that's great to know that Lowes will do that for you! Looks like that's where I'll be buying the paint for the baby's room

oh man - we used the paint chip samples when we choose beige/neutral BM colors in our hallway and bathroom as well - but after reading your post I'm kinda worried bc the colors we liked were not available in the color samples! We were originally just going to get the paint from a paint shop near our house, but now I wonder if they'll be as accomodating if we don't like the color.... Do you think if we go to Lowes and ask someone there, that they might be able to tell us if we'll have that pinky problem? This is so helpful - thanks for sharing!!

Re: Wrong paint color??
I had the same problem with the beige colors. I used 2 cans in one room (my bedroom) and it came out perfect. I painted another room with the 3rd can and it looks pink. Im ok with it though since its just a spare bedroom. I figured it was just mixed wrong

Did you have all three cans mixed at the same time? My FIL warned us about this - he said tomake sure you buy enough paint for your rooms, that way the color is mixed color mixed all at once and you don't have to worry about the same color looking different. Also, could the lighting in each room made a difference? Wow, I'm getting so nervous about all the colors we picked now!!

Re: Wrong paint color??
If you picked a color that they don't make just order a quart. They roughly run about $12 per quart. We just had our whole place painted and bought quarts for each room and it was so worth it to know that each color was exactly what we wanted!

Re: Wrong paint color??
that's probably what we'll do too, I just wish they had the samples - it woudl have been a littel cheaper. I'm just concerned about paint being mixed at different times possibly showing a change in the colors, but we'll try the quarts first and see what happens. Either way, $12 for a few quarts is a lot cheaper than completly repainting if we hate the color
