I had a similar problem when I was MOH for a wedding.
All the girls got along. I was the only one with a "professional" job and knew a lot of the financial stuff would fall to me.
I paid for the bulk of the shower, with the BM's helping a little.
The shower was from all of us. Period.
I would absolutly pay the extra money and put her name on it.

She cant afford anything at this time, so no separate gift. I told her that I have no problem covering her portion, and not to feel bad. I bought the gift and it will come from the entire bridal party.
She texted me later that she will pay me back as soon as she can, and that she was thankful.
I think that is great and very nice of you

Get the gift and write from the bridal party, especially if you have no problem tossing in the extra money.
agree...times are tough...it was prob sooo hard for her to even say she couldnt chip in
