WWYD - Disney now or later

My son is 2.5 and I am 8 weeks pregnant with #2. My parents have always said they wanted to take our son to Disney. We thought it would be sometime next year, before we found out about #2. (in fact when we told them about #2, one of the first reaction was, can we still go to Disney next year?)

My husband has also been dying to go to Disney ever since our son was born.

We both work full time and are desperate for some kind of vacation. We took off a few days at the end of July and have been trying to figure out where to go.

He found some last minute 3 and 4 day Disney packages online for cheap. It would be from like a Wed to a Sat or Sun.

Would you consider that or wait for the grandparents? We have no solid plans with them and 400 things could happen in a year to prevent us from going, but at the same time I think they'd be really upset if we went w/o them. On the other hand, it's our kid and the last time literally to take a trip just the 3 of us - and we could go back again next yr!

I would talk to my parents, maybe they would be able to come with you guys this year? Not sure if thats an option. Otherwise, I would see how they react, and go from there.

Can they join you in July?

Otherwise, I think they would be very hurt. My parents are dying to take DD, and I think they would be hurt if we went without them.

If you really want to go there and you are in need of a vacation then GO! I would go to disney every year if I could. It will be a nice trip for your DS for his sibling comes. We took our son when I was pregnant with DD. The only not fun thing is the walking and heat being pregnant you just need to do a slower place.

i agree i think they would be hurt, that is what i am leaning towards however, now with a 3 month maternity leave in late winter/early spring next yr I'm not sure how much vacation i will get. argh!

Maybe talking to your parents about it will make your decision easier.

i will eventually be in the same boat as you. my grandparents had a tradition of always taking the grandkids to disney when they turned 5. my parents say that they plan on doing this too. i haven't said anything to them yet but i don't plan on letting them do this - they can go with us, but they aren't taking DS to disney for the first time without me!

i would tell your parents that you are planning on going to disney at the end of july and you would love for them to join you, but if not maybe you can let them take DS on their own next year?

my mom would be hurt. we actually just booked our trip last week for December and my mom wants to go with us and I made sure she wanted to go before i booked!!! i would see if they want to go with you!! BTW congrats!!!!
