WWYD - mommy and me/socialization class - LONG!!!
DS goes to an integration/mommy and me/socialization class.
Half of the class has specials needs the other does not.
I HATE going there. It's boring! They have Gym for 30 minutes out of the 1.5 hour. The gym teacher is doing the same thing. DS HATES going to the gym.
There is A LOT of circle time. Like 15 minutes (3 songs) in the classroom. Then there is another 10+ minutes in the gym. And another 2 + minutes at the end of the gym.
DS is now started to have "mini melt down" (crying, pulling my hand to get out of the gym class, handing me my purse as if "mom, get your stuff and let's get out of here) in the gym. He started whining the minute we go in the hallway to go to the gym.
We have not gone for the past 2 weeks.
Unfortunatelly, I did not find another program that is not full for the Summer.
They do crafts, etc.. but it's "too little" vs the amount of circle time. They gym part is boring.
"I" am having a hard time feeling "excited" to go to school. It has become worst that weeding my garden.
I started the program last Fall so he would be used to circle time for September when he is going to be FT in preschool. But while it was good at the beginning, I know DS is bored and can't focus on seating for that long with the same songs, activities OVER AND OVER (can you tell how I feel about it????)
WWYD?
Suck it up and have DS whine and cry to get out or ............ (insert idea!!!!)

 I'm shocked that they do the same thing over and over again. To be honest, I'd be bored too.
Is gym time at the end of the program? Is there a way you can just leave when they do it?

personally i would pull him out and just give him the summer off if you cant find anything else. This way in sept he will enjoy going and not be afraid of going ( since he hates it where he is now i would be afraid he would think thats how all schools are).

Yes it's at the end but we come back to the class for ANOTHER circle time for a good bye song.
I could talk to the program director and ask her if we could just skip the gym part but stay for the rest of the class.

He does like the "free play" at the beginning. The love the "snack time". He "puts up" with the craft.
One day we forgot a shirt in there and he cried because we had to go back to the classroom.

We are going through the same thing. DS and I took an "infant" aged mommy and me last summer, and it was OK. I registered this summer for the toddler aged class, and it is EXACTLY the same.
They are expected to sit in the circle and sing several songs. DS wants nothing to do with it. I said something to the instructor. I feel an infant class and toddler class should be run differently.
Basically, Im going to play it by ear this summer. If we feel up to it, want to get out of the house, we'll go. If not, Im not going to chase him around the classroom for an hour. I'd rather do that in our yard.

I ended up calling the program director and asked if we could do that.
She said he did not have to go to the gym.
So we went this morning and it was all fine.
