WWYD? Cake Smash & Christmas Photo shoots
Please help me decide!
DS will be 1yo on December 9th and I want to do a Birthday/Cake Smash shoot. I also want to do a Christmas shoot and since they are so close, I was thinking of doing both at the same time. I'm pricing out different photographers and they have recommended that I do this in early November so I can get our Christmas cards printed in time. This is a great idea BUT IDK if I should do his birthday shoot a month before his birthday. What do you think? My other option would be to do a Mini Christmas shoot in early November and then a birthday shoot a month later... this will be more $$$ obviously. WWYD??

When do you send out your Christmas cards? I would do one shoot mid to late November, but I don't care when my cards get sent as long as they get there by Christmas Eve.

We did D's 1st Birthday pics and Christmas all at the same time.. Early November... Worked out fine for us..

Maria- we are using a separate photographer for each- she is seriously amazing- I'll send you her info if you like- I am paying $75 for each session and she is coming to me! Maybe go expensive for one of the shoots and use her for the other
we used her for b's christening pictures

Emmy is a Christmas Day baby and her 1st birthday and our Christmas pics were Nov 26th or 27th. I did not like they were so "early" and she had JUST turned 11 months, but $$$ was the factor and people appreciated seeing her pics on the card and I was also able to mail out her 1yr update to close family and friends w/the card so it ended up saving me mucho bucks! I say do it and don't look back.

Em's photo shoot is booked for Nov. 5th. She is doing half bday (but no cake smash, I'm just not a fan of them) and half Xmas. We're using Jaclyn Noelle. She's $200 for session and the cd

DS' bday is 11/18. I had his first birthday shoot in mid october so i could use the pics for his bday invite and thank you, cake smash and christmas. We did fall pics for his bday, tight photos with hat/scarf/sweater for xmas (so you couldnt tell it wasnt winter), and then balloons, cake smash for his bday. Killed several birds with one stone. DH would never go for multiple shoots lo

Thanks ladies!! I think we have a clear consensus, which is exactly how DH felt too. I didn't think about using the cake smash pics on his b-day invite, so I guess it does make sense to have the pictures done in advance!!
