WWYD?! Freaking out due to DS's 2 mo shots yesterday...

I'm beginning to wonder if I should switch pediatricians. Chat Icon

DS, Gavin, was given two shots yesterday. I was TOLD that they were: HepB (2nd dose, 1st was at birth) and Hib. After they were administered, I soothed DS and DH gave the ped. Gavin's immunization card to fill out.

When I looked at the card today, I saw that she signed Hib (fine) and PCV (!!!!). She TOLD me the other one was the HepB second dose, but WROTE PCV on his card. I don't think this is an emergency, so I don't think I should call her today. Or should I? I am calling on Tuesday to clear up what he REALLY got... what would you do? Would you switch Drs? What if she doesn't remember which one was really given... HELP! Chat Icon

TIA
Tara

I'd call to just clear it up. She probably wrote the wrong shot down. I wouldn't switch doctors over this one mistake.

They probably have standard shots given at 2 months so I would hope she would know which one she gave him. I would call immediately to clear it up and determine how you feel about switching based on the office reaction (if they're apologetic and eager to clear it up for you then I wouldn't switch).

Well, I called today. Turns out that she signed the wrong box on the immunization card. Makes me feel a little better, especially when I heard her confident voice in the background, telling the receptionist that it was definitely HepB and Hib. He will be getting PCV next time.

Thanks for calming me down. I just hope there will be no other oversights such as this one in the future.

My daughter just got Dtap and the rotovirus at her 2 month visit. The nurse has me look at each vaccine and sign off that it was the one we had discussed and that it was the correct expiration date. Maybe in the future you can ask to do this for your own piece of mind?
