WWYD: halloween
ok... so DH and i just moved this summer. the house happens to be pretty much right across the street from the school i work at, and a few of the kids from the school live in the nieghborhood. i grew up in the " country" and we never got many trick or treaters growing up, and i hear we get a lot in this new neighborhood. so i'm SO SO excited to actually have trick or treaters on halloween and actually get to give out candy. BUT.. the problem is, many of the trick or treaters we'll get are students at my school. i really don't know if i want to answer the door and have them ( and their parents!) know where i live. at the same time, i don't want to miss out on giving out candy, which i've never gotten to do before! should i just suck it up, or maybe buy a mask or something???

I would buy a mask!! That way you can give out candy and your students won't know where you live!! Good luck! ETA - I would get a CUTE/FUNNY mask - nothing scary! Cindy is definitely right about that!

Re: WWYD: halloween
I wouldn't answer the door with a mask on, that might scare some of the kids (esp the little ones) and it might make the parents a little leery too.
I would just answer the door as you normally would. They're bound to learn where you live anyway by seeing you outside in your yard and around the neighborhood, I wouldn't try to hide.

If you live in the neighborhood, chances are they'll find out where you live eventually!
I would just answer the door as normal. My old school was in a smaller community where half of the parents went to HS with their child's teacher! Many students knew where the other teacher's lived, and it never seemed to be a problem.
Good luck!

Re: WWYD: halloween
can your DH answer the door?
i wouldn't want my students (mainly parents) knowing where i lived. you never know if you may have a crazy parent or may have a problem down the line. the fact that they can walk right from school to your front door if they are angry is a scary thought.

This is what I was going to suggest!
