WWYD?? Kinda long
So, here is the situation... I am currently taking Zoloft (lowest dosage)... I took it with my last pregnancy and breastfed and everything was perfectly fine with my DC. however lately I've been feeling more anxious... We would now like to get pregnant again... but I am still taking the Zoloft... I have an appt with a new Psychiatrist on Monday to speak to her about either upping the dosage, changing the medication, or going off of it... the problem is that this week is my fertile week and I would need to "try" then... should I wait until next month instead so that I can speak to her first? Or just go for it anyway and if I happen to get pregnant, then hopefully she can still help me make a decision as to the Zoloft, how much etc... What would you do? I really didnt want a July baby... I dont think I could stand the heat being pregnant in June!

Personally, I would wait.
Have you researched side effects? Would the Zoloft be detrimental if you did get pregnant while on it?
It's really not something I have any knowledge about, but if it were me, I'd wait until I was well-versed in it's side effects before TTC on it. I am sure that you wouldn't want to jeopardize your future child's health.
Can you call and ask if it's safe to take Zoloft while TTC?

As a counselor, I think if you are feeling that the dose now isn't strong enough/working well for you anymore, hold off and try to get on a medication or therapy that helps to get your anxiety in check before you TTC.
Should you get PG next week and you want to up your medicine/change medicine, you may not be able to, and the PG may make your anxiety worse. I would definitely get an opinion from your doctor before making this decision yourself.

Re: WWYD?? Kinda long
i was on that and one other med. the zoloft is considered safe for pregnancy.
you will be fine to take it - but i do agree with PP - if you think it's not working...get yourself 'correct' first. the best environment for a healthy baby is a 100% healthy mommy.

See that was my question... could I up my dosage or change medicine while pregnant...that's what I wasnt sure about... and I couldnt call the psychiatrist because she is away this week, and I've never met her before so I'm sure she's not going to tell me over the phone. So I guess we'll just hold off... it will give me some time to get myself all in order anyway... I'd still like to drop some more weight too. Thanks so much for the advice everyone!

Honestly, I don't know what you should do but if you decide to wait and change your meds and they put you on Cymbalta then you should NOT get pg. I have to be off Cymbalta for at least 2-3 months before TTC. It has very bad side effects on a fetus. Good luck!
