WWYD? Neighbors dog left out in rain...I am so upset
My neighbors leave their dog out too often.
Today we just had a huge rainstorm and I hear anxious loud barking and walk over and see their dog soaked to the bone, standing a huge puddle and river of dirt. I rang their bell, no answer of course.
They clearly have no regard for their dog.I have even heard the dog barking at night recently, all alone outside. I have little tolerance for people who abuse their animals.
WWYD? I cannot report them to ASPCA b/c in their yard they have an awning that would be considered shelter (the dog was chained OUT of the yard today). I want to cry at the sight of this poor chained up soaking wet dog, barking his head off. It makes me so very sad. I don't understand how people can treat animals like garbage. I really cannot and it makes me so upset that I don't know what to do with myself.

If you can get them to come today...you might be able to do something.
If the dog is chained and can't get to the awning, that would be neglect.

The rain has stopped. I do not see the dog anymore. Either he is in the yard or in the house.
I am sick to my stomach, b/c I know they will do it again and again. I hate having no control.

Same thing is going on by me....my neighbors leave their dog out all day, rain, snow, 100 degree weather, whatever....and the poor thing barks all day to go inside

Wow!!! I would just take the dog from them and find it a new home. I don't think I'd be able to stand it.

I would call the ASPCA just to raise a red flag. Tell them what goes on and maybe they will come out and investigate. Maybe your neighbors need a wake up call.

I'd probably do that too, although i wouldn't reccomend it, you'll probably just get in trouble.

I'd probably do that too, although i wouldn't reccomend it, you'll probably just get in trouble.
Neighbors of mine already saw me walk over to their house to ring the bell.
The dog has not been back out all night, at least I have not heard the dog. But if I do hear the dog tonight, I will be calling the police.

An awning is not considered appropriate shelter for an outdoor dog. It has to have 3 sides.
Call the ASPCA, and write down dates and times of the other incidents.
Also, is there fresh food and water for the dog?

Call the League for Animal Protection. I did this some years. From my kitclhen window, I could look in to the backyard of a house around the corner. They would tie their puppy to the backfence all day and walk out occasionally and throw food at it. I couldn't watch it any more and called. They came and took the dog away. "People" like this don't deserve to have animals.

I would call. You could also take a camera and take pictures or videos of the times you see the dog out in the rain, or whatever so in case the dog is in the house by the time they get there you have proof. I don't understand either how people do this to thier animals, it so cruel! I would love to do this to them as the punishment and see how they like it

Thanks ladies. I have not seen teh dog out again, and have not heard it. I cannot see totally from where I am, it is not the next door neighbor.
I will call if I see it again. I am tired of these people treating this dog like a peice of garbage.
I will start making my list but again, I can't see from where I am so it will be hard. But I will try that is for sure.
