WWYD Pediatrician related
In terms of picking a pediatrician , DH and I are torn.
Currently we live in Long Beach, but are looking to buy a house in Plainview . We will start looking in Dec of this year and hope to move in the Spring of 2010.
Would you start with a local ped and then switch after you more , or just select a Ped in Plainview and have a 30-40 min drive to that office?
I am leaning towards using the local ped and then switching, just curious to see what others would do.

40 minutes with sick baby in the car is a long drive. Especially through the winter, when the roads can get bad.

I agree. We're planning on moving too, and will find a ped nearby now and then switch when we move.

I would find a a local ped. You never know what will happen in the future - but for now you know where you are living! Also, my aunt is a ped in Long Beach if you need a recommendation. She is awesome, I would have totally used her if she was closer to us.

Re: WWYD Pediatrician related
We used one ped for the first three months and then switched when we moved. Both times we were lucky enough to find a ped within 5 minutes of us that is fantastic. Convenience is key when it comes to these things - I love that when DS is sick or has a rash or something (and, we don't even go to the ped often b/c he hardly gets sick) that its right up the street - it makes it MUCH easier. That said, perhaps if I didn't have such good Dr.'s in both areas I might have done things differently - HTH!
