Actually a co worker of mine had a baby with that. Unfornatuely for her the baby had no diaphragm and all of the internal organs were in the chest.... the baby didn't make it and she was devastated especially since it was her first. Thankfully she has two healthy sons now. I do know that they had told her if there was only a small hole, there would be a chance to fix it, but they were honest and told her the odds were slim. My prayers are with your friend and their family.
