x post from LIW-Kentucky Weddings
I am going to one of Dhs excoworkers wedding in Kentucky at the end of October.
It is at the Church's hall -Memorial Hall
Not sure what to expect...
What should I wear? It does not appear to be as formal as would a NY wedding...
Also, what would be an appropriate gift- Keeping in mind we are spending $$ to fly there and get a hotel...

Bumping for you...
Not sure what to wear but I'd say bring cash to the wedding. Often times out of state weddings mean cash bars.

Re: x post from LIW-Kentucky Weddings
My friend lived in Kentucky for a year and she said weddings are WAY different. She said their expensive weddings are no more than $50 a head- and that's pricey. Based on what she's told me, $100 is a very generous gift from a couple. And definitely plan to be more casual than you would be for a NY wedding. Wear something alog the lines of what you'd wear for an afternoon affair.

Re: x post from LIW-Kentucky Weddings
I dont think you can go wrong with a simple black dress or even a black suit. I have never been to Kentucky wedding but have been to one in Boston (DH's cousin) and it was very different. It was a cash bar and was over at 9:30 pm on the dot. Some people also bought stuff off their registery and gave gifts. What about a picture frame for them to put a their wedding picture in (nothing super expensive you can find some nices one at Marshall's or TJMaxx) and then $75?

Re: x post from LIW-Kentucky Weddings
Okay ppl...Kentucky is not another planet. I have been there twice due to the fact it borders Ohio. Wear a pant suit or nice dressy pants. I just went to a "black tie" Ohio wedding last month and all the women were in pants.
In all honesty...remember our younging days when we would get dressed up to go to the city? Where your city black pants and a cute going out top.

Re: x post from LIW-Kentucky Weddings
okay sounds good-you know it feels weird to only have to have an outfit like that... I bought a nice dress-but DH said he thought it might be too dressy-and to me, I would wear it to a nic dinner---very confusing but thanks for the help... I think people give gifts there-so thats what I will do...thanks all!
