Re: x post from Special Needs Board
I work is a school for children with Autism. Here are some things to look for or ask about:
Number of students and staff per class Availablilty of related services (speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy) Are related services provided in class (pull in) or outside of class (pull out) Is toilet training provided What kind of communication systems are being used in classes How are behavioral issue addressed If your child is following a special diet (ex: gluten free, kosher) how can the school accomodate Other than ABA, what programs are offered? (TEACCH and floortime have also been successful with little ones) Does the school offer a parent support group How clean are the school's facilities Are there any special programs available for your child (ex: music therapy, sensory integration)
Not all of these may apply, but I hope this helps!
If you have any questions, feel free to FM me

Thank you. Those questions are great. I've had so many questions during the whole eval process that I feel like I can't even think anymore.

It might help for you to make a list of your questions as they come. That way, when you are able to ask, it won't seem as overwhelming to you.
I know that referral can a long and scary process but any questions you may have, feel free to message me and ask.
Good luck tomorrow! Please let me know how it goes!
