I actually did a few of these. But I was over 18. Did I need to be an adult? No. I just always had a curfew til I moved out. 
Wait! Sorry! I was 17. Anyway, out of high school.
Okay, I'm editing again. I do remember having sleepovers where we never slept, at age 10-13. Our parents just knew we would sleep the next day, all day. If we could've raised money for charity that way, rock on!!!
But I would definately set the amount of hours allowed to stay up at one time. You don't want a child going over 24 hours, even for charity.
