X-post... Hosting a birthday party at 8 mths PG or after baby is born?
Should I have DD's party on her birthday or 2 months later?
Figured I'd ask the pregnant ladies' opinions...especially if you are near the end.
DD will be 2 in Feb. (4 mths - I know I have some time, but if I don't start planning before the holidays, I will not do anything until Jan.)
I would love to have her party at White Post Farms and I know they do indoor parties at that time of year, BUT I would soooo much rather be able to have it outside (they start going outside the end of March)
Now - I'm pregnant and due at the end of March, so couldn't do it then.
Is it silly to wait for the end of April to have the party?
I know it could still be bad weather, but I guess the chances of not are better.
I was thinking too - that at almost 8 mths pregnant in Feb, having a party around her actual birthday might be exhausting (at least I feel like I could maybe get away with it for this reason lol).
What would you do?
ETA: If we did it in the spring, we'd leave the baby home with one of my parents.

I would do it on her birthday! That's when her birthday is and you'll probably find it easier before you have the baby!

I had DSs birthday party at 8 months PG on his birthday. I was so glad that I did it then because afterwards with 2 it was so much harder than I anticipated.

I was 36 weeks and drove 9 hours (back home to family) to throw a 1st birthday party for my first DD. I say throw it on her birthday.

Re: X-post... Hosting a birthday party at 8 mths PG or after baby is born?
I'd do it in February. I am in a similar situation. I am due March 4 and have gone early (2-3 weeks with both pregnancies) so not sure if this one will be the same so I have to play it safe. My older son's birthday is Feb1st. I was planning to have his party end of January to be safe (haven't checked dates but I'll see whatever that last weekend in January is). So basically about 4 weeks or so before my due date and hoping I don't go super early. I am in a little different situation as my older son will be 6 so he won't wait anyway - he is counting the days already for his birthday. At 2, I guess you can still get away with it.
Honestly, I don't find hosting a birthday party at a place that exhausting so I don't see it as a big deal and rather keep my son's birthday on his birthday and special. 8 months, while large - I am usually still mobile - hey you can't stop when you have kids anyway - (unless medically necessary of course). I usually do a smaller party at the house for family and close friends esp those who travelled far for the kiddie party - that is more work but this year I am having construction done so - I can't have too many people at the house anyway - so I will keep that small. Also, I personally wouldn't want my infant in the mix of all those people esp April - all those change of season colds are out.
Also for parties at White Post Farm - I have done one there in February and in the summer and while both were terrific - I found the indoor one more enjoyable. Less crowded, more contained. All the kids kept seeing the playground area at the outdoor party and asking when they can go there - they can't do that at the indoor party. No matter indoor or outdoor - you'll have a terrific party there!!! They do such a great job!

I'd personally rather do it before the baby is born. SO I would host the party at 8 months pregnant. I am 8 months now and I feel like I could host a party. I am actually having my DD's 2nd birthday 6 days before I have my b/c I don't think I will feel up to it right after I have the baby.

Thanks! We will probably end up having it around her birthday you are right - like I said there is always the chance of rain even if we waited.
Good to know the winter parties are good. I was there briefly last winter and just thought at the time that it would be better to be outside/nice weather.
Don't know why I'm so hesitant to book it for the winter. Though probably has something to do with last year's horrible blizzards all around her birthday.
Lol - I should have mentioned too that if it was after this baby is born, he/she would stay home with one of my parents.

I had the exact same question and decided to have a bday party about 1 month before my due date.
I'm afraid of germs, taking attention away from DS#1 and frankly think I will not be up for hosting guests 1m postpartum.
