x-post: life insurance beneficiary question
who is your beneficiary on your life insurance and what are the percentages? I honestly know nothing about this. DH has me as 50% and then has his brothers and sisters as 50%. He chose a plan that is more expensive so that I'd still be getting the same amount that I would be getting if he had the lower plan but he also wants his brothers and sisters to be taken care of. I ask because his sister seemed extremely shocked that I wasn't 100% beneficiary. I should also mention we have no children and a mortgage on the apt. but DH made sure that would be covered. Sorry if this is worded strangely, I hardly know what I'm talking about.

My DH is 100%; however, he will give a certain percentage to my neices in account for them. we have no children. I want him to be take care of our bills first.. mortgage etc..
I am 100% on his.. It is on me to take care of his son.

We are 100% on each other's. However we have 2 children. Our children are secondary beneficiaries if we predecease them.

He should have you 100% on his life insurance. If he wants to provide for his siblings he should map that out in a will for you to take care of upon his death.
Are his parents still alive?

I have a seperate life insurance policy in which my sister is my beneficiay. She is 18 years old, I am 34. I took it out about 10 years ago and she will remain the beneficiary on it. I have 2 other siblings who are closer to my age and I don't have them as beneficiaries. Since my sister is so much younger, I wanted her to have something godforbid something happens to me, since I am her living piggybank.

We are 100% each others, and DS is 100% contingency beneficiary.
Before I was married, I had my parents, then my siblings as contingency. It was changed after marriage.

I don't know, maybe it's because we share all of our money, but I don't know that I would like "our" money paying for insurance to benefit them. Or maybe I'm just selfish..........

I agree with this actually.. if you're sharing your money/income, then you should be 100% each others beneficiary. Its one thing to have a separate policy that takes care of siblings, or as another poster said, stipulate it in the will. But IMO as a spouse, you should be 100% beneficiary

I actually did the opposite when I was single...My mom thought it was better that my sister was primary, since she would most likely outlive my mom. I think I still have them on my retirement 
DH and I are both 100%
