X-post, posted my birth story drug-free, hypnobabies birth
I finally posted my birth story. It was amazing. Please read if you are a second-time mom hoping for an easier second labor or if you are interested in drug-free birth.

great story!!! CONGRATS!!!!
how did you learn the hypnobabies techniques?
it's too late for me to take a class, i think, with only 15 days to go but is there a book you could recommend?
i'm not necessarily interested in my birth being drug-free - i welcome the epidural with open arms but i'd be open to whatever techniques i could use to keep relaxed through the pain. especially since there's a good chance my labor will be fast and i won't make it in time for the epi...

I actually used the Hypnobabies home study course since there are no instructors on LI. The whole course combines reading material with scripts that you listen to on CDs.
The focus is on normal birth, so even if you know you want an epidural you can still benefit from the relaxation and visualization techniques taught. It's probably too late to jump into the whole course close to your due date, but you can buy MP3s of the the pregnancy and birthing affirmations from the hypnobabies website and start listening to them right away. They are soooo relaxing and a good way to prepare yourself for birth.
Hypnobabies MP3s
ETA: They sell a CD called "After Your Baby Comes" which is soo great and relaxing to listen to in the weeks after your baby is born. I really think it helped me have a calm, restful post-partum period.
