Re: xmas cards to jewish friends
I don't think there's anything wrong with it. most people will be delighted to get a pic of your son.
Is there a spot where you can add Happy Hanukkah?
It would show a lot of care and respect to your friend to add Happy Hanukkah to the card.

Re: xmas cards to jewish friends
I would - it's a picture of your son, not something religious. Maybe add Happy Chanukah (sp?) as well.

Re: xmas cards to jewish friends
I am Jewish and I always like when I get a card that said Happy Holidays or Happy Chanukkah. I wouldn't be mad if I got a Merry Xmas card but I prefer someone to acknowledge that I don't celebrate Xmas.

ditto
My cards say Season's Greetings with a nice saying on it that is non-demoninational. I think that is the way to go.

Re: xmas cards to jewish friends
It's tough. As someone who is Jewish, I do not like getting Christmas cards, but I would want a picture of my friend's child.
Do you have any wallet pics of your son that you could include in a more general seasons greetings or happy hanukkah card?
Most of my friends are Jewish, so I send them Chanukah cards, and I send our non-Jewish friends Seasons Greetings or Happy Holiday cards. When the time comes that we have children, I may print up both kinds, or do wallets for the Seasons Greetings cards.

Re: xmas cards to jewish friends
Personally, I would be very confused is my non Jewish friend send me a Merry Xmas card.
I get a Happy Holiday Season card from a Catholic friend of mine with a piture of her son, and those are always nice!

Re: xmas cards to jewish friends
I always put Happy Holidays with a picture of my son. It does not say Merry Christmas. I have a friend who is Jewish and I sent it to her. I hope she is not offended.

Thats why I put happy holidays on my cards. It was a picture of my doggie. I thought my Jewish friend would want to see it

Re: xmas cards to jewish friends
What if you buy a hanukkah card at the store, cut your sons' picture out of the card and glue it inside the hanukkah card?

if it was a pic of kids and it said Merry Christmas, I wouldn't be offended. but if someone sent me a Christmas card, I would be pretty insulted. I don't send Hanukkah cards to my Christian friends, you know?

agreed. I sent out Chanukah cards to my jewish friends and family and Seasons Greetings cards to non-jewish friends and family.
Either way, would love to see a pic of the kid! I get the ones with Merry Christmas too and I don't get offended.

Re: xmas cards to jewish friends
That is why for everyone i use Happy Hiolidays--it is generic so I can use it for everyone..
If she is your only jewish friend, I would probably send her a generic card and if I had a wallet picture I would send that...

This is what we did when we sent photo cards the first year we were married. We cut off the "Merry Christmas" part and put it in a Season's Greetings card.

Re: xmas cards to jewish friends
When I buy my Christmas cards I also buy a box of general cards...usually with a snow theme or happy holidays so that I can send that out to our friends that don't celebrate Christmas. When I do picture cards I order a set that is more general for those friends as well.

I always get Happy Holidays.
ETA: Its not just Christmas/Chanukah that I'm sending it for, it's the New Year, too!

Re: xmas cards to jewish friends
I buy Happy Chanukah and also Happy Chanukah - I think I've bought Merry Christmas cards in the past too. I don't send Chanukah cards to my non-Jewish friends, so I would expect that my friends (of any religion) wouldn't send me a Christmas card.

Re: xmas cards to jewish friends
I don't mind but I think it's a nice touch when someone writes Happy Chanukah on the bottom.
