I'm not a teacher, but I work in a field that is similar in many ways.

We've had a few people come on board from very corporate environments who have had an extremely hardtime adjusting.

I think with my place of business it's because there's not really a "set" kind of job description and at many times, you really are flying by the seat of your pants and have to wear many different kinds of hats.

Someone recently resigned and said it was because she missed working her corporate job where everything was very clearly laid out and she knew her duties and what was expected of her. There was also always extra $$$$ available to hire temps if needed. That's something really not heard of in my field (and I'm sure similar in teaching).
