what are you looking for? to watch sports or something else?
I like Stout like PP mentioned but I don't find it really casual. too many commuters and too much "see and be seen" IMO.
3rd and Long is a big favorite of some of my dh's friends.
I like Nevada Smiths, which is one of the best places in the city to watch soccer.

Hey, just something with a cozy booth  any place for that matter.. just not looking for anything fancy or anything with funky food.. just want to sit and chill and chat and enjoy

The Ginger Man on 36th is casual and cozy, and they have an awesome beer menu. Food choices are pretty limited though - a few sandwiches, soups, salads, and apps - but anything I've ever ordered has been good.

oh yes. I am a fan of the Ginger Man as well.
the only sell beer though (or at least since I've been there) but Under the Volcano ( ) is around the corner and they have a full bar menu.
the cheese plate at Ginger Man was really good. a nice break from typcial "bar" food.

Stout gets really crowded and Ginger Man has horrible service from my experiences.
Galway Hooker which is up the block from Ginger Man is a lot better IMO. It's on 36th just off 5th.

Any Village Pourhouse is good, there is one in Midtown West, one in East Village and one on way Upper West. We watch football there every Sunday and there is great food.
