XPost: ?? about pads & also BTDT mom ??

i'm about to go shopping for things to go in my hospital bag and i figured i might as well stock up on some pads since i'll be needing alot of them and don't have any. i've never been a pads type of gal. i always had extremely heavy periods and i felt like i was wearing diapers when wearing super heavy pads so i stuck with tampons. what type of pads do you ladies like that's super heavy that won't make me feel like i'm wearing a diaper and i won't bleed through every half hour.

for the BTDT girls, is there any "after care" items i should pick up besides pads? not just for vajay jay but for recovery in general. thanks!!

I actually wore 2 of the most giagnatic pads - had to wear 2 side by side because bled sooo much. I would recommend the biggest and LONGest ones you can find!

Not a pad girl either! I used the always with wings overnights for the first week and then switched to the always long ones with wings for the remaining weeks. Things I didn't have that I wished I would have were a Sitz bath and a donut cusion. It was pretty sore down their and both of those things I bought after being home a few days. I brought everything and then some to the hospital but hardly used any of it. Only item I wished I had brought was my Bobby baby sling carrier. DS wanted to be held and I kept drifting off to sleep I was sooo tired after not sleeping for 24 plus hours and labor. If I had that carrier I could have drifted off sitting up and kept him in the bed with me.

I used the ones the hospital gave you, I would also take a bag & put it in my bag each day so I came home w/ a few bags.

I bought the mesh undies to wear b/c the first few days are pretty messy; or else buy/bring undies you don't mind tossing.

Don't forget your hair dryer; a decent towel (my hospital's towels were about a foot by a foot) & slippers.

i had a c-section... i used stayfree ultra thin... they make them in a variety of lengths- get the longest they have. Some other things that I was very happy that I had were a package of granny panties that went above my scar (I picked a pack up from BJs) and a bikini pack in a larger size--and I also didnt mind if they got stained, and my nursing bra and boppy. That is really all that I used out of the stuff that I brought- oh and my nursing nightgowns and robe and flip flops-- and lanolin (but i got free samples at the hospital)

I hated those phone book sized pads! Even in the hospital I would use the Always with wings...I preferred to changed often than use the big ones. Also, I LOVED LOVED LOVED Earth Momma Angel Baby Bottom Balm for recovery...better than what the hospital gives and it is all natural (Whole Foods has it).

I hate pads too, but you obviously cant use tampons and you bleed SOOOOO much, so the only thing that worked for me were the hospital ones and overnight pads. Yes, it feels like there is a phonebook in your underwear, but its worth it bc its MESSY!

Also, make sure you steal the squeeze bottle from the hospital since you cant wipe. Plus, I tore pretty badly and the cold water was soothing on the stitches. Other things I couldnt live without....the numbing spray from the hospital which is also sold at drugstores, again for the stitches and refrigerated Tucks pads, again, the cold medicated Tucks were really soothing on the tear. Lastly, steal the perineum ice packs from the hospital. Also, just find the biggest granny panties you can!

Good Luck!

I did use the hospital ones which I hate for the same reasons you mentioned, but they really were the best thing. I also used two side by side until the bleeding slowed a bit, then I used Always overnights. Also huge, but not quite as thick.

Re: XPost: ?? about pads & also BTDT mom ??

I went out and bought two packages of granny panties (the biggest I could find) and brought those to the hospital. I used the hospital pads while there (they left a bag for me by my bed and another bag in the bathroom) and when I got home I used the overnight ones. After a week or so I was a able to move to the regular ones.

I had a c-section but one of my coworkers said to put tucks pads in the fridge before you go the hospital. You can use them if you have a v-birth and also if you get hemorrhoids after birth.
