I like to look at tripadvisor.com for the hotel ratings and reviews. It also gives you prices from various booking websites. If you have AAA check thier prices I usually find them to be the best.

I look on Kayak but, usually end up booking directly through the hotel chain I end up going with.

I also prefer to book directly with the hotel chain.
I can't remember the last time I booked through a website like Travelocity. I review via tripadvisor and oyster and book through the hotel website. Kayak does a good job sorting by price though on exact dates.

I use hotels.com. Their prices are always competitive and you get rewards regardless of the chain you stay at so I don't have to be brand loyal and still get rewards.

I use kayak and hotel.com to get the rates and compare hotels. Once I decide where to stay, I book directly with the hotel.
