The original thread is from October but there is an update from today on the conditions of this new puppy mill supplied pet store in Smith Haven Mall.

I don't claim to be an advocate for or against these types of store. But I would like to say that at the end of the day...these poor animals are being brought into this world regardless and these puppy stores are the ONLY way some of them will EVER get a chance at a family. It's terrible because it's not their fault. And though I would probably never buy a pup from one of these stores (too many of my friends and family have gotten very sick pups) I DO make a point of stopping in to show some love to the animlas in these places. My heart breaks for them knowing that not only do they live in terrible conditions, but that these stores just get boycotted and shut down and then who really knows where these animals end up So sad.

In order to stop puppy mills, the demand has to stop. If people stopped buying from these pet stores, there would be no market to sell the animals into therefore, the breeding would eventually stop. Lots of these puppies in pet stores end up at the local shelters because they get too big to sell...and those are the lucky ones.

I bought a dog in the mid 1990s from a "shop" and the puppy had various issues and was very sick. Of course I had no idea about puppy mills back then and found out the hard way. The answer from the owner "bring him back and you can get a new one" which of course didn't happen but this is the so called "guarantee" these hell holes give.
Disgusted that Smithhaven mall would allow this disgusting dump to open in this day and age, but I guess the almighty buck talks.Thank you OP for sharing. I will be moving back to the area in June and I would definitely be interested in a boycott. Please keep us posted...
