I would suggest if you wanted to gather some basic information about the trademark process, to start by looking around on the official United States Patent and Trademark government website for some general information. It's a little bit hard to navigate BUT its a great way to see what the process entails..

Here is a link to the trademark section on the site: Trademark Basics
Eventually, if you decide to pursue this - you will probably need the help of an attorney specializing in Patnet and Trademark law to help you deal with the paperwork. It can get a little bit pricey BUT its worth it to protect your name!

jes- go to the goverment site for small businesses- it is Extemely resourceful in SO many ways! if nothing else, it also helps you to get an organized plan together.
