Xpost from Home- I have a question
Does a house have to have a bathtub in order to sell?
My parents have put in a bathroom with a shower stall and now want to remodel their other bathroom. Thay want to put in another shower stall and eliminate the tub.
I told them that that may not be legal in terms of reselling their home??
Anyone have any idea???

I don't know about the legality of it but I can tell you that it may make it harder to sell. Most people want a tub unless the buyer has a specific reason like a disability or something.

Re: Xpost from Home- I have a question
Trust me, I am trying to talk them out of it. But my mother always has to do the opposite of what I advise her. She will totally limit the people who would be interested in her home. I have kids and would never buy a house without a tub. I was just checking the legality of it. I hope it IS illegal to sell a house without a tub, maybe then she'll reconsider.

Agreed.
Ditto - and if the potential buyers have small children no tub may be a deal breaker.

I dont necessarily think its illegal to sell a house without a bathtub, but everyone is right, if the potential buyer has kids, no bathtub might be the deal breaker

Re: Xpost from Home- I have a question
it's not illegal to sell a house with out a tub but there are tub regulations for residences...they need to be a specific size. But definitely tell your mom to keep at least 1 tub in the house. some people dont consider it a full bath unless there's a tub.

Re: Xpost from Home- I have a question
its legal not to have a bathtub..its just a better selling point when you do have at least ONE bathtub in the house
