i am a 7th grade math/special ed teacher. not sure where you're located, but I may be able to help.

Otherwise, I would call your child's school and speak to one of the guidance counselors about it. They usually keep a list of teachers who tutor on the side and may be able to recommend someone. That's what we do in my school, anyway

ETA: the going rate in my district for a teacher is around $75/hr. If you are looking for someone to just do math hw with your child and don't want to spend that much money, maybe look into some college-aged kids or high school kids on your town's FB page

Ask on the town FB moms page. Sometimes high schools kids will tutor and it will be cheaper than a teacher.

Thank you everyone! I will check out Wyzant as well as C2 Education. I will also email her guidance counselor if I can't find someone.

She is a smart kid... suffered a concussion recently and sort of fell behind in math because of all the restrictions she had--no smartboard, no computers, no extra reading, only one test per day, etc etc... definitely not conducive to learning! Doesn't help that she is probably the textbook picture of a 12 yo girl with inattentive ADHD, sigh, but that's another story for another day. She's very bright. Just have to be able to capture her attention and keep it (and I don't... I have the unfortunate distinction of being "mom" so I know absolutely nothing, despite the fact that I have completed way too many calculus classes lol! So I am already at a distinct attention-grabbing disadvantage!)

Thanks for all of the suggestions!

we used Wyzant to find an SAT prep tutor and my daughter starts Friday. So far, I am pretty impressed with all conversations with the tutor so far.

I personally would call your child's guidance teacher. Most times, they have a list of teachers in the school that are tutoring. It is probably your best bet to get someone that teaches in the school, as they know the curriculum the best. And with your daughters issues, you can even ask for a special ed teacher that co-teaches math possibly. Or a math teacher that may be dually certified.
