xpost from school aged: camp info and prices from BTDT?

This was the first year I returned to work at a somewhat more steady schedule. I work 9-3. (because DD started Kindegarten this year. Now, Im not sure what to do for the summer. I am a single Mom and money is not exactly flying around over here. Curious if anyone knows of some camps in my area (Ronkonkoma...any surrounding areas in Eastern-mid suffolk) that are good and how much they get for the summer program? I have heard a few prices for the summer thrown around and they were crazy! help?

many school districts run their own summer camp out of one of their schools. does your district do that? if so, they are usually very affordable and open to in-district kids only.

For full day camp at the bigger camps on LI, it seemed to me that they were all in the range of about $4,000- over $6,000 for 8 weeks full time, 5 days. Some cost slightly less money until either K or first grade. It's insane but I will want to send DS next summer and I still think about doing 4-6 weeks this summer. I went to day camp and I really want DS to go. Near where you are, you may want to take a look at The Rinx camp. I looked at a number of camps but that is the only one I can think of that would be convenient to your area. The cost was slightly less than the cost of the camps in the Melville area, where many of them are.

ETA: from what I have seen, some town camps will cover the hours you need and some will not. They are worth looking into, IMHO. We did a 1 week town camp last summer and it was fabulous. If it is as good again this year then in the future I will sign DS up for 1-2 weeks less of full summer camp and send him to the town on the weeks when they have the program that DS loves.
