Re: Xpost frpm pregnany-Cerclage at 24 1/2 weeks
who is doing your cerclage?
i had mine early at 12 weeks, but the procedure is pretty simple, you will get a spinal and the whole thing takes about 15min.. very quick!
i won't lie, i had a awful recovery. Dr. Kofinas did mine and he goes up very high with the stitch. and the higher you go the more painful the recovery is. i was in bed for a week , i couldnt get up. i know that i was one of the very few that had a recovery like this.. everyone else i know was fine after a day!
it is great to have though because it really holds the baby! good luck!!

Dr. kofinas is doing the cerclage. Dr. Nuygen did tell me to expect pain the first 3 days and gave me Vicoden. My cervix started out great! It was super long. Then it went from a 44 to 36 in 2 weeks. Now a week later it's at 19. Hopefully this and the meds will help.

I asked Dr Nuygen if i had to take it if i wasn't in pain. he said if i feel no pain then it was done wrong. Take the Vicodin. So i definitely will take it. Did your cervix get longer after your cerglace?

mine wasn't short when i had it because it was elective. so it stayed the same length throughout the pregnancy

Re: Xpost frpm pregnany-Cerclage at 24 1/2 weeks
I had my emergency cerclage put in at 25 1/2 weeks by both Dr. Kofinas and Dr. Nyugen and they were both preparing me for the worst pain in my life and I have to be honest, I never felt any pain at all, he got very high up with his stitches and it was done right (they were both there for the surgery!). The sono tech told me the morning of the surgery that she seems to find that the girls who get the cerclage put in later seem to be in a lot less pain than those who get it early on in their pregnancy.
You are in great hands with both drs! I had the cerclage put in, I stayed on a modified bed rest for the remainder of the pregnancy, stopped taking the procardia at 36 weeks, went on heparin at 35 weeks and my water broke at 36 weeks, 4 days and my babies were delivered 110% perfect! Good luck!!!

Thank you so much for answering. I feel much better about it now. Do u remember how short your cervix was when you had the cerclage done if u don't mind me asking? I never had any procedures done before but I am more nervous for the babies than anything else because my cervix got so short in such little time. I trust both dr. Kofinas and dr. Nyugen 100% so that makes me feel good too.

Re: Xpost frpm pregnany-Cerclage at 24 1/2 weeks
I believe that it was about 19 or low 20s, I was good for the whole pregnancy up until that point and all of a sudden it decreased fast. They squeezed me in at Kofinas in Garden City (he was in the BK office) and they "televised" my sono over to him so he can see it and the right away that I needed the stiches, that I was having contractions then and they had to give me meds while I was still having the sono done (it was beyond craziness, like on tv). We had to rush to methodist hospital right that second for presurgery testing and he did the surgery early the next morning, I was in recovery for quite awhile (no issues, just waiting to be released). For me the worst part was the spinal, I was scared of it and started fainting right after I had it, but when I had the same thing for my c-section I was totally fine, so it was prob just my nerves!) He monitored me every week after that point. I never got anymore sonos at my ob's office, just at his and they would let them know my progess. Good Luck!!

Re: Xpost frpm pregnany-Cerclage at 24 1/2 weeks-update at bottom!
I saw Dr. Kofinas today and my cervix is back to where it was before all of this I do have to take indomesthisone every 6 hours and procardia every 12 hours. I also have to take Lovenox shots twice a day now because baby A is now measuring 4 oz behind. He want's to make she is getting adequate blood supply because of the position of her placenta but he said everything looks beautiful and i am on moderate bed rest for the remainder of my pregnancy. I was so nervous about today's appointment!
