UHM NO! Get that thought right out of your head!
And of course you will never have problems meeting anyone you are so sweet and friendly.

Re: xpost: Those who moved out of state...
Pro's: - Better job for DH (something he has wanted to do for a long time) - Better financially. Higher paying job and housing is more affordable.
Cons: - we miss our family & friends. - we miss other LI things - food, beaches.
All of the people I have met here have been because of DD. But I am not working and DH travels for his job so he's not really meeting people here through work either.

Re: xpost: Those who moved out of state...
I don't know where my life is at right now. We moved from Staten Island to Charlotte while I was preggo. No jobs, no friends...I had never even been here before(Leo came down and checked it out).
It still doesn't feel like home, but I don't know if Charlotte is to blame or my life. In a year, I went from working, going out, having money to spend on whatever, and actually living with my family.
Now, we are on a tight budget. Days are lonely. So, I don't know if its the move or my sahm status.
Pros: staying at home with baby Leo cut an hour off his previous commute. If we wanted to, we could be homeowners down here. I live in a really great area.
Cons: My family is missing my baby horribly. My mother told me yesterday that she will not be calling for a few days, that it gets her too upset. We live in a part of town that is mainly transplants. However, Leo currently works on the outskirts with real country southerners. We have found out that Southerners really aren't for us.
Most all of the people I have hung out with are LIFers.
I just joined a MiLFs club hopefully that will lead to more friends.
I started taking a Saturday morning exercise class.
3 of the 4 families in my building are NY/NJ, so I talk to them.
Seriously, I feel like I am dating. Try to impress, then wonder if they will call or if they are worth calling.
I don't think Charlotte is going to be it for us. I am trying and hopefully one day I feel differently. NY is out of the question. I never think about going back, I would have to work and I don't feel comfortable leaving the baby with that commute.

Re: xpost: Those who moved out of state...
I haven't lived on LI since college and are now in Cincinnati OH...
Pros: 1-We have an amazing house that would have easily cost us close to a million dollars on LI... 2- Ability to be a SAHM and still have disposable income for vacations, etc 3- Loving the family centered lifestyle here...wonderful parks, things to do. 4.- It is like SAHM central here and most moms I've met are nice and fun and have other things going on in their lives in additional to role of Mommy...so I've made some nice friends
Cons: 1- I'm landlocked and downtown Cincinnati is a joke...I miss the hussle and bussle of a big city. 2- Sometimes people are too slow and nice. 3-My kids will say "I am from Ohio."...very odd to me. I still think of myself as a NY'er. 4-A lot of women still wear stirrup leggings and have mullet hairstyles. 5-We have no real couple friends. BEfore we moved here we were in Dallas and had a wonderful group of friends and had a nice social calendar. Now it is kinda boring in that sense. 6- DH has no friends here. I made friends through my moms groups, but no guy pals for DH.

Re: xpost: Those who moved out of state...
its hard to be away-regarding family & things, though much better for us as a family for the long run.
my dad gave me stellar advice a long time ago- he said that we ( DH & I) have to do whats right for US. No one asked me when iw as 3 where I wanted to live etc-- he did the best for us at that time and the place happened to be Long Island....therefore we ( SH & I) should do whats best for us and for the baby financially, safety, schools etc-- and they will adapt as well.
We have to move to TX in May, and its killing me to be so far away( we are in DC now)- However- this si the life I chose to support with my husband being military, and our paretns understand we cant fly home on a whim- but they can certainly come to visit and thehy lo9ve they have will never change.
