XPost-Unemployment
Do you need to have a special company # to apply for unemployment? I remember many years ago my dh had to call up his old company and get a number.

Oh, if your company says they will not pay...should you go anyway and apply?

Re: XPost-Unemployment
You should definitely apply to see if you qualify. I got laid off last year and didn't qualify in NY because I had only worked here for 2 months...Massachusetts where I lived before that then became responsible to pay me unemployment because I worked steadily for several years without employment interruption! It definitely doesn't hurt to apply!

yes apply. this happened to me, the company fought it- but I fought back and eventually won. It is a PITA but usually the employee wins unless it was something super illegal that caused termination.

Re: XPost-Unemployment
you can file online or over the phone. it takes about a week. you'll get a determination in the mail along w/ the weekly benefit amount.. $405/week being the maximum benefit paid. The first week is a waiting week. I got 1 week before it went through that my company was fighting it- it took me about 2 months to get back on benefits- but it was worth it.

Re: XPost-Unemployment
I filed online and it takes about 3 weeks for you to start getting your money. I had to put in my company Id though. It was on my paychecks so I didn't have to contact my company
