Re: not able to sit 100% but too big for the infant car seat...

I put him in the carseat in the shopping cart. I leave it in the trunk and transfer him from the big carseat to the little one. Annoying, but it works for now.

Can you stuff a blanket or jacket around her in the seat? We do that at restaurants in the highchair. We don't like putting the infant seat on the chair, but DD isn't totally stable sitting up. With something soft around her, she sits just fine, and even if she tips over, she's surrounded by something soft.

I did this. I would put the little belt on her nice and tight so that it was practically holding her up, put my pocketbook on one side of her and a blanket on the other and she was just fine. She even fell asleep in the store one day and she stayed sitting up, almost suspended up by the belt! Chat Icon

That is what I did or DH and I would go together. This period wasn't too long luckily for us. Maybe a month.

I did read somewhere that someone left an infant seat in their trunk and used that. So the child is safe in the car seat when driving and you can port them better in shopping carts.

I did what Cathy mentioned a few times - kept the seat in the car. It did the trick but it got easier to put him in the floppy seat with a blanket rolled up on each side. This worked much better and he was happier in this position.

We started using the floppy seat, just so she could sit with protection. The strap held her mostly in the middle, while pushing the cart i kept my hands on the side of her so she wouldn't tip when i turned.
She still lounges in the shopping cartsChat Icon
