Re: similac vs. enfamil
We did the same as you, went through all the samples after BF'ing.
Our ped told us similac and enfamil are like coke and pepsi of the formulas.
We went with Similac, she was less gassy on the similac then enfamil. We use the powder, and the new similac (in the blue container) makes less bubbles when you shake it.

Re: similac vs. enfamil
I use enfamil and did have some problems with gas (but nothing that I don't think was really 'unusual'). My sister breastfeeds and supplements with Similac and has had no problems. :)

Re: similac vs. enfamil
We use SImilac Advanced (the blue container; the pink is the SOY). She never had issues with gas, so we are sticking with it. No need to change if it works!

is the blue one the soy?
The blue is the new label and improved formula for the reg Similac advance, the milk based one. I do believe the soy, Isomil is now in a pink container.
I love the new similac, i don't have to put mylicon in her bottles anymore, the bubbles really do dissapate really quickly, with the old formula, they never did no matter what i did

Re: similac vs. enfamil
My girlfriend is a pediatric nurse and she said carnation good start is the best because of the comfort proteins (gentle on the stomach)

The 25.7 oz powdered container (advanced blue label) is on sale at WalMart this week for $20.87...great price PLUS you get a free ready-to-drink bottle with it. We used our similac $5 checks so was only $15.87 each!
Stock up!!!

Re: similac vs. enfamil
Ditto on the recommendation for Carnation Good Start. The reason why docs don't recommend it is bc they don't give samples.
I started with Similac and it totally constipated my little one. A freind told me about Carnation, said she had gone through all of the "recommended" ones and they all constipated her daughter. So, I tried it and DD is tolerating it so much better. It's cheaper too, which is a nice bonus!
