Yay! I'm officially one of you gals! That said, HELP!

Hi! We are soo excited! Chat Icon

Like all pregnant mommies, I want to track my baby's growth through these magical months, but my Dr's left me skeptical.

I took a HPT (acutally 4) last Thurs, and they were all faintly positive- yay! I went in on Saturday to the OBGYN and she said that I'm not very far along, and that it might have just happened a few days ago. Of course, I didn't believe her because that would be wayy too soon to show up on the HPT- or so I thought.

My results came in today and she said that I am only a few days to a week pregnant. Could that be? Doesn't it take @ least 2 weeks to show up on a home preg. test? Please let me know if anyone has heard of this or had this happen to them. I'm so anxious!

Thanks,
Tara

I rarely hear of a pg test showing up positive before 10 dpo. You might be 3 1/2 to 4 weeks pg...since they count back two weeks from your last period.

I tested positive early too, I was maybe 4 weeks when I had blood drawn.

Thank you for responding- that's what I thought, esp. after researching all day.

I feel terrible second guessing this Dr, but I have another one who was highly recommended, who I will be switching to maybe at the end of the month.

Thanks again!

When was the first day of your last period? Do you know when you ovulated?

yes takes 2 weeks after you ovualte, usually around when you get your period...I had a positive at 8 days PO...sounds very normal...so when you actually get the positive you are 4 weeks pregoo, but really less than one week of actually baby

I am one of those early testers. This is my 3rd pregnancy and my test came back positive 12dpo this time. however the two previous pregnancies were 7dpo. so , yes it's possible to high amounts of hormones to detect a result. congrats!

First don't feel terrible. It is actually scary that she would say that to you. Most Dr's will dat epregnancy according to your last AF so if she is not she is obviously not doing the right thing

your hormone levels may not be high yet to really get a good reading.

i also think the hpt some are better than others hang in there and dont stress i am sure the levels will get stronger.

when is your period supposed to be due. if it make syou feel better take annother hpt around that date

CONGRATULATIONS!!

I also was an early tester..and got my postive 10PO...granted it was only a positive in the morning that day, but as the days went on my hormone levels increased. So by 13DPO i was able to get a positive at any time during the day.

Thanks for the posts! The frustrating thing is that I really only have the results to go on since I am so irregular.

This sort of happened to me. I didn't think I was pregnant, I just took a test as a fluke, because I was supposed to take provera to get my period (i'm VERY irregular, have PCOS) I took 3 digitals and they all said pregnant. I went to my dr. 3 days later and the nurse said the line on their test was sooo light. When my numbers came in, my HCG was at 80. I believe it has to be 25 to register on a HPT. So I must have found out one of the first days you could find out. Hang in there, and don't let the dr.s get to you. Chat Icon
