YAY!!!! We're installing....[Installation starts today 5-4-09 & Ended TODAY 5-8-09]
CAC in our home in 3 weeks!!!
We signed the contracts last night and construction begins May 4! We're also upgrading our electric panel.
We're installing a dual zone CAC, both made by Amana (lifetime warranty on the compressors), eligible for the LIPA rebate and an Obama-stimulas tax credit next year for our taxes.
Can't wait to enjoy my summer!
We're using:
U.S. Air Conditioning & Heating Inc.

Our neighbors used them for installation last year and highly recommended them. I'll let you how the installation goes!
ETA: Installation starts today. The manufacturer has already delivered all the supplies. Just waiting for the company to show to start the work!
5-4-09: All the vents are installed in the upstairs, along with the attic fan, units are on their stands on the side of the house, electric panel has been upgraded. Tomorrow = downstairs vents!
5-5-09: The downstairs and upstairs vents are all installed - no cracked tile/flooring either. They are vacuuming as we speak. The new thermostats have been installed. All that is left tomorow is for the air handler to be installed and all the wiring to be completed to turn the system on!
5-6-09: The metal duct work has all been installed in the basement with insulation all around it. All the units are wired and ready. All that needs to be done is for the air handler to be completed with the air return needing to be put into the wall. They said they should need a 1/2 day on Thursday and will be finished.
5-7-09: Everything is all done. They're coming Friday to patch up some holes with insulation in the garage, and complete the clean up process. They tested the units - one unit leaked, so they are getting us a new one at no extra cost. They stated that we bought the system new and instead of repairing it, they want to install a new unit. I'm so excited to have CAC this summer!!!
5-8-09: They replaced the broken condenser, and ran both units simutaneoulsy and both are working wonderful!! They patched up all the holes and are now cleaning up all their equipment and mess from the garage!! YAY we have CAC!

They finished the electrical upgrade. Now they're working on the attic unit. My house looks like a war zone.

How is Daisy dealing with the "war zone"??
Daisy is camping out at my ILs house until the installation is done, but we see her each night when we go over for dinner. She turned 2 last night.

Now I don't have to complain when the heat/hot weather/humidity arrives.
We even have used the fan to help circulate air and love it!!
