Yes wood floors again - recs (i did search but could only find a few)

Please recommend the person who did your wood floors and if your willing how much was it?

We are starting work again and we will be ripping out the rest of the carpets as soon as the drywall is up/sanded. We will have all the base molding still off and all of the baseboard heat covers pulled off (replacing them) so figured its a good time to do this.

Also should we paint first (before i pull the carpets out) or should we paint after the wood floors are done? I don't mind a minor touch up here and there but i am thinking its easier to paint/have it dry and cured for a few days prior to sanding/staining the floor. Sand and 3 coats poly and i think we will not have to fix any boards.

I answered on the thread from the other day but I would NOT recommend my floor guys (Harris Floors). Their original quote was $1600 for 3 bedrooms, small hallway and stairs and that was the cheapest I found but their work was attrocious.

In hindsight, I DEF wish we did the floors first, THEN painted.

We just had our floors redone last week.
We used Floors By Seamus. He installed a new floor and sanded and stained an existing floor. He did a great job.

A neighbor stopped over while the work was being done and booked him on the spot to redo the floors in his restaurant.

Looks good. We may need someone to put the hardwoods down in our house - just the lower level. The contractor is responsible for the upstairs floors.

We used "Rob the floor guy" Chat Icon I don't know his business name - I can get you his number. My bro also used him.

We (both my bro and myself) had no issues with him. I don't know how much my bro paid but we paid $1900 for our upstairs hallway and our DR - included material, labor and staining.

Re: Yes wood floors again - recs (i did search but could only find a few)

just refnish, i found one guy from an old thread someone suggested (i think his name was jason) and it is roughly 1.70 per sqft so it will run us about 1K if i figured things out correctly. And it will take 5 days (sanding and 3 poly)

I am going to call the other people tmrw as well and get prices.

my mom thinks we should stain the floors a light reddish color but its oak and i am more into the natural color of the floor but will have to see.

Your floors look fantastic!

I will REALLY be needing a great rec for this in about a year lol that is what our "first time home buyer" tax credit will be paying for.

Catherine, if you want to FM me that'd be great, but can you give me some info - does he do straight up install? We don't have wood floors now in the place we are going to contract on -- there's wall to wall carpet. The carpet is nice which is great for now but down the road I want the wood.

Can he do just an install without any pre-existing wood?

We like a brazilian cherry color.

Thanks!! This is great to know!

We used Novak Flooring over the Summer and were very happy with their work. Back then, they were running a special for $1.50/sq foot for oil based ploy/three coats. Stairs were a separate fixed amount. Let me know if you want their number. I dont have it handy right now but I could track it down for you.
