yet another GD question
After lunch, breakfast and dinner my blood sugar is okay. However, it's my fasting number in the morning that always seems high. Granted today is only day 3 of testing, and my dinner last night left a lot to be desired (my after dinner number was high, but I expected that). Would my morning number still be affected by what I ate for dinner?
I had a snack around 10:30 last night, one of the snack cups of cottage cheese. Should I maybe forget the evening snack and see what happens?

I dont' know the answer to your question but I would NOT recommend skipping the late night snack.

I agree!
Maybe, you need to change what you are eating for dinner. Just a thought.

I knew what I had for dinner last night was not good. I just didn't think that it would still carry over to the morning. Even my blood sugar after breakfast was high, and I ate the same thing I had yesterday for breakfast.

Re: yet another GD question
It probably has NOTHING to do with your dinner. I had GD and it took a while to get my morning # regulated. I always had an insane # at wake up even when I ate PERFECT the day before. It's just the hormones......I had to find the right dosage of insulin to get my morning # under control.

I agree. The upped my insulin every week because of my hormone changes. My fasting number was always the problem for me.

That would happen to me all the time.........I'd have good sugars after breakfast and then the next day it would be sky high and I ate the same exact thing at the same exact time. That's when my insulin dosage would get bumped. I changed my insulin dosages a lot throughout my pregnancy. As my hormones fluctuated my insulin dosage had to change to keep my sugars in check.

Re: yet another GD question
don't skip the evening snack, it can help regulate your sugar overnight to keep the morning number lower. but i would reccomend something thats more protein and less carbs. cheese and such do have carbs in them.
go for some meat, nuts, etc. (watch the peanut butter though, it usually has added sugar) see if that helps for the morning number.
i can tell you my mornning number slowly but surely climbed for 7 months, from 80's to bumping 100, which is why i was put on a low dose of insulin before bed for hte last 3 weeks of my pregnancy.
sometimes the morning fasting, you can't do anything about other than go for insulin to bring it down. (i was miserable when they told me, but the actual shots really are not a big deal... they hurt less than checking your sugar 4 or 5 times a day)

Re: yet another GD question
I'm having the same problem, as you can see from the chart I sent you.
I heard the late night snacks help, and I agree with the PP about protein. I usually have peanut butter and some pretzel nuggets, but when I had it on light whole wheat toast my sugar the following day was the lowest I had seen it. I'm going to get some nuts, and or move to melted cheese on light whole wheat toast. I also see my high risk for a F/U this Friday, so I'll let you know what advice he gives me about getting the fasting # down.

I went through 2 rounds of IVF to get pregnant, so taking a daily shot is no big deal to me. I just hope it doesn't come to that, as I've really just had enough of sticking myself!
Thanks everyone, I'm still very new at this. It's only been a couple of days. I was just curious if my bad number from last night had anything to do with my two morning numbers.

Re: yet another GD question
I was told the Fasting bw in morning was the most important. What I ate before bed with my last pregnancy that helped alot with my #s was.. low sodium all natural peanut butter on a whole wheat 6" pita, or Popcorn.. I would have about 9pm and my #s were fine in the morning.
