yet another stroller quest. please help!

here are a few questions:

how long does an infant stay in an infant carrier in terms of the number of apprx. months?( im cluessless about pounds and age)

Is it worth it to buy a snap and go? i am due late December and i dont think i will be taking many walks... and if i only get about 6 months of use out of it, then it is not worth it for me.

I am looking for fairly light weight, compact and durable stroller.
I think i might register for the peg perego pliko. i believe the infant seat snaps into it, so that is a plus!

i really dont want to buy like 4 different strollers nor do i want a travel system!! def. not!!maybe i would get 2 strollers max!
should i get the peg perego and then an umbrella stroller - like a cheap maclaren?

TIA!!

Re: yet another stroller quest. please help!

My DD was in the infant carrier until 12 months. I had the snap and go and used it a lot. It is so much lighter than any of the strollers that the infant seat can snap into and when the baby is small and sleeping in the car a lot, you will definitely want something that you can use the infant seat with.

I had DD in October, so there wasn't a ton of walks for us in the beginning either, but believe me you will want to get out of the house. I spent a lot of time at the mall and used the snap and go. Even if you only use the snap and go for 6 months IMO it is worth it. If you don't think that you will be too into it, why don't you see if you can borrow one from a friend or buy a used one? It isn't like a regular stroller where there is fabric that can get all dirty and gross - your baby will be in it's carseat.

DS is still in his infant carrier at 8.5 months, though we really need to put him in a convertible seat soon. He is almost too long for his seat (and getting heavy)!

I have the Snap n Go, and honestly, I love it. I still use it if we are going shopping, because it's a lot easier than strapping him in the stroller and car seat over and over. Plus, I love it because he usually stays asleep if he falls asleep, but if I need to move him to his stroller, he wakes up immediately. So very worth it to me, especially in the beginning.

As for a late December baby, you can take lots of walks with your baby, and as another December mom, I recommend getting outside as much as you can (except on really bitterly cold days). Babies are much more resilient than you may think, and he/she will be fine if you bundle them up. Honestly, going for walks made me feel so much better, and my little colicky guy calmed down almost every time.

The number of months is completely dependent on the baby. DS has been out of his infant carrier since 5 mos Chat Icon

I'm an early December mommy. I LOVE my snap-n-go. I call it the mommy stroller. I will be very sad when it gets retired (which will be any day now).

DD at 8 1/2 months is @ 19 lbs 5 oz, and 28 inches. The limit on the infant car seat that I use with the SnG is 22 lbs and 29 inches.

The limit on my Peg car seat is 20 lbs I believe and my 5 month old is that now so we are transferring to a convertible car seat. I didn't get much use of the "travel system." I now bought the Maclaren Triumph and I love it - DS has been in it from 3 and 1/2 months on.

I would definitely get a snap n go. I miss mine it was SO easy to pull it out when doing a quick errand and lighter and bigger basked than my heavier every day stroller.

Honestly how long depends on the child. My DD was in hers until almost 11 months (she only hit 20 lbs and 29 inches at 1 year so I could have left her in longer) there are some seats that go even longer with heavier weight and height limits now). Honestly when they get closer to the weight limit they are hard to carry but nothing beats leaving it in the car later and when they fall asleep being able to just remove the seat and snap it into the frame without waking them up to get them into a stroller.

In winter you wouldn't have to take her out of the car seat or deal with a heavy stroller just throw the seat onto the frame and run inside - very quick.
