Im confused...I have been giving it to my boys but it says it has whole milk in it, and I thought they were NOT allowed to whole milk.

Re: Yo Baby. yogurt
We started at 9 months with my boys. It was a whole milk product but the ped didn't want us starting on whole milk until one year old.

Re: Yo Baby. yogurt
I know - our pediatrician had us start Yo Baby way before we were allowed to let him touch whole milk to drink.

Re: Yo Baby. yogurt
yes, you can give your baby whole milk products at six months, but not switch to whole milk.
The whole reason that you switch to whole milk is that by 1 year old your baby should be getting enough nutrition from solid food that they don't need the extra nutrition from formula anymore. Formula is given as a sort of dietary aid (of a sort) Babies under 1 can eat whole milk/products with no problems.

Re: Yo Baby. yogurt
I started with yogurt at 6 months as per my ped's reco... but yogurt is cultured, I don't think it's the same as giving regular milk anyway.

Re: Yo Baby. yogurt
If you are using regular formula it is milk based, so yogurt is fine, so is a little bit of vanilla ice cream on a hot day.

DD was switched at 3 months from milk based formula to soy based formula because of an allergy. I gave her yo-baby yogurt, and the first few days she seemed fine...but by about day 3 or 4...she had the same reaction as she did with the formula (spitting up more often for starters), so I stopped giving it to her.

did you try the Soy baby yogurt?? I saw that was not sure which one to try. I will wait a few more days and see if there is any reaction.

Re: Yo Baby. yogurt
I *think* but not sure that the whole reasoning behind the no milk before 1 years of age is because breastmilk and formula have way more vitamins and yummy goodness that milk doesn't have (not that milk isn't good for you but BM and formula has more stuff in it). Doctors were afraid if we gave milk to our babies they would not want to drink formula, which gives them more good stuff. So I think you're ok to give yogurt to them. I give Liam regular full fat plain yogurt a few times a week and have for the past month. He'll be 10 mos old on Sunday.

Yo-baby makes a soy one...it is usually right next to the regular ones.
