Yogurt and cheese
Hi Ladies,
I got my BFP this past Saturday. I was going to wait till 1st dr. appt. before posting on this board...but I thought, what the heck! DH and I are so excited.
But I am a little confused about what not to eat.
Is it okay to eat cheese and yogurt?
I have montery jack cheese and Dannon light and fit yogurt. Is that ok?
TIA
I am so happy to be apart of this board and share in the excitement of everyones pregnancy

Re: Yogurt and cheese
Congrats!
Yogurt is very healthy to eat because you need the calcium. Montery Jack cheese is good. Some doctors say to stay away from blue cheese, brie cheese, and any other soft cheese that is not pasturized because they contain bacteria that could be harmful. But, my doc said I can have them in moderation.
Good Luck

Re: Yogurt and cheese
First of all welcome & congrats!!
Yogurt is GREAT to eat when pregnant - great source of calcium. Monterary Jack cheese is also OK (you'll find that some doctors are more cautious than others regarding cheeses, but its usually the 'soft' cheeses like Feta, blue... and fresh mozzarella that they might ask you to eat in moderation..)

Re: Yogurt and cheese
congrats!!!!! Yes, they are both GREAT sources of Calcium during your pregnancy, but I satyed away from the light. I didnt want to have any artificial sweetners. I was never a big fan of them even before I was PG

Re: Yogurt and cheese
Thank you ladies. I hate milk. I can stand soy milk vanilla with cereal and thats it. So i guess I will stock up on yogurt. I didnt know about the artificial sweeteners either. So I will adjust my eating habits with that as well. Does that mean Splenda I have to check it out

Re: Yogurt and cheese
If you want to eat a light yogurt, Stoney Field is very good. Their fat free does not contain aspartain or anything else artificial.
