You know how we always seem to *miss* the holidays?
I think we all lead very busy lives and are going here and there that the holiday season comes and goes in a blur.
Well, what do you plan to do this season to make sure you don't miss it?
I want to play more Xmas music and watch the Xmas specials.
I want to bake sugar cookies.
I want to spend a day in the city takiing it all in.
I want to get the cards and shopping OUT OF THE WAY early. Cards just need stamps.

Re: You know how we always seem to *miss* the holidays?
trying to volunteer/donate to as many causes as i can.
Lots of baking. I always listen to christmas music while i'm baking as well. (Actually, i listen to christmas music starting around thanksgiving).
I'm working christmas eve and christmas, so i'll just be working and sleeping on the actual holiday (i volunteered to work thanksgiving eve and day also, so that people with kids could be home with them) but to me, it's more about the holiday season than the actual day. I'll def miss midnight mass though
Anyway, my whole thing this year is all about trying to give back as much as possible, not worrying so much about finding the perfect gift for family, etc. I feel like we're so blessed and wish other people could have that feeling. I told DH for christmas, i want him to find a charity/cause on his own and find a way that we could contribute to it. He'd rather get me another pair of Uggs I'm still holding out hope though.
Oh and we're also going to Disney right before christmas, so i'm excited for that- i can't wait to see all of the decorations there!
oh... and LOTS of christmas movies. I can't wait! I may even start this week!

Re: You know how we always seem to *miss* the holidays?
I actually enjoy the shopping part of Christmas and don't like to "get it over with"
I love shopping with all stores decorated and playing Christmas music.
Then making a huge mess wrapping everything by the Christmas tree, with the music on!

Re: You know how we always seem to *miss* the holidays?
I'm hoping to not stress when the holidays come and its time to run around and see family - I let my frustration get the better of me and I miss out on the quality time w/ family which I know I want always have the opportunity to get
I'm eagerly anticipating holiday music! I play it ALLLLLL day at work and on the drive home
I'm hoping to catch Christmas Vacation and all those cute classic holiday movies
Both Thanksgiving and Christmas mornings DH and I will be home so I'm planning on taking it all in and enjoying our time together
We live in an apt and never have room for a tree, but I've since rearranged some stuff and would LOVE to have a tree

Re: You know how we always seem to *miss* the holidays?
this year i don't have to worry about in-laws... so i'm going to work harder to concentrate on the time i have with my wonderful son.
i'm hoping to do the following: *really clean and decorate in the next two weeks *we'll be making thanksgiving dinner... just the two of us from scratch *bake cookies with him (he loves that) *go see christmas lights (there's a farm near by that has displays) *take a day-trip up to nyc *watch more christmas movies... IN BED IN OUR PJS with hot chocolate
i'm praying to make this the best holiday season with my son

Re: You know how we always seem to *miss* the holidays?
This will be our first christmas in our house so we'll finally have plenty of room to decorate - in previous years we would get a tree but it would take up so much space and we'd always have to shimmy around it to get anywhere - I can't wait to get a nice big tree for our living room!
I'm also getting more involved in charities - I've always written checks before, but this christmas I want to drop off toys and clothes to a shelter in our old neighborhood. I want to make this a family tradition that we'll do at the start of each season.

Re: You know how we always seem to *miss* the holidays?
We are actually not exchanging gifts among my family this year--we didn't last year either, and it was sooo much easier. I can't say I missed it. Except for DS, he will still receive presents, and DH and I will exchange. His family is not interested in dong this though, so we still need to buy presents for them.
