you take your toddler to a pool?
i want to take my 13 month old to my cousins pool but since josh runs around like a mad man (and falls) i am worried he will fall in their pool (although i will be on top of him.)
which floatation device would work best to keep on him.
where can i find one?
TIA!

Re: you take your toddler to a pool?
Hmm, I don't know that any of those things will work on a child that little. I was checking out life vests for Emma and most of them were for like ages 2 and up. Water wings probably wouldn't stay on his arms and those aren't really meant to save a child if they fall in. I started using those around 2 with DS.
I would go to the store and try on the life vests and see if any of them will fit him.

Is there any way to keep him AWAY from the pool, like outside a locked gate?

We have vests for our kids. They go by weight, not age. I would go to any boating or sports store with your child and try them on to see which has the best fit.

vest with strap.
DO NOT get the swim suit with the floats in it.. if dc was to fall in face first it would keep them like that. get a vest that has floatation on the front and none on the back.
like this.
i have worked along side the lifeguards and te marine police as well as the coastguard. these jackets save more lives!!!

I realize that, but when I was trying to find one for DD when we went to GWL, I couldn't find one for a child less than 30lbs. I just assumed they didn't make them that small.
I did just google and found this one from 0-30lbs and they do have larger ones also if your DC is more than 30lbs.

Re: you take your toddler to a pool?
Those vest things just seem soooooo hot for them. Especially the ones with the holes for the legs, like a full body thing.
We got Steven arm Swimmies for our vacation at the lake. And, he has a few tubes (with a seat).

Re: you take your toddler to a pool?
We use vest for my kids, and they clip in front and have a strap down under through the legs. They aren't allowed in my IL's yard without it (they have an in-ground pool). At the public pool we go to, they are only in the baby pool because flotation devices are not allowed in the big pool.
