Your DC's sleep and going back to work

DD is 10wks old and a GREAT sleeper. I feed her around 9pm and she sleeps until somewhere between 5 &6am. Then she goes back to sleep for anothr 2-3hrs. I go back to work in 2 weeks and know that I am going to have to wake her. Is this going to put her in a bad mood for the rest of the day? I know she wouldn't sleep if she didn't need it. Is there a way I can try to alter this sleep in the next 2 wks before I go back to work? I know there is also the possibility that she will alter it herself and that instead of waking between 5 & 6am, it might be more like between 6 & 7am.

great question! I'm curious about this too since DD will be starting day care in 4 weeks and I'll be going back to work in 5 weeks.

Awesome question! I'm curious too.

I read somewhere that you should start doing the routine of when you'll be going to work. Maybe you can try making a bit more noisy and try waking her when you would once you start working and see how she reacts.

DS started STN at 10 weeks. I went back at 13 weeks.

He was sleeping 9:30PM to 7:30AM.

I needed him to wake about 6:30AM. We slowly moved his bedtime back 10 minutes every few nights. Worked like a charm!!!

By the time we were dropping him at the sitter he was ready for his morning nap!

moving bedtime back? meaning putting him to bed later or earlier? i don't want to put DD to be later...ideally I would like her bedtime to get a little earlier

Earlier by 10 minutes until we were at an 8pm ish bedtime (DS never really slept & stilldoesn't sleep more then 10 hours).

So by moving it back 10 minutes every few nights in about 2 weeks he was going to bed about 1 hour earlier.

I started this at about at about 12 weeks old and now 3 weeks shy of a year he still goes to bed at the same time!

I was actually worried about this too. I started back at work about a month ago. Honestly, if she's still sleeping, I don't wake her.

It works out fine because she is never starving when she first wakes up anyway. I just throw her in the carrier and sometimes she will stir, but she falls asleep again as soon as I start driving. As time goes on, she seems to be waking before we go.

This is a great idea and had thought of this too...good to hear that it works!
