Your first post EVER on the infertility board
I thought this could be fun.. Do a board search, what was the first post you EVER started on this board? This doesn't include the ones you've responded to... just the first one you started. It's interesting to see what our very first concerns were!!
Here is mine.. it was a x-post and I linked it to Infertility and Pregnancy.... And to think PCOS would be my biggest hurdle!!
***************************
To make a long story short, it was confirmed today I have PCOS.
As far as TTC, my option is to take metformin and see if my cycles regulate on their own (but he predicts that will take at least 6 months, if it regulates at all) .. OR I can start right away with provera and clomid, if time is a factor and I want to get pregnant faster.
Anyone have any experience with this? My concerns is that we'll wait 6 months hoping the metformin will regulate me and it won't so then we will end up using the provera/clomid after all, anyway.
Any insight? Experiences, etc?

Re: Your first post EVER on the infertility board
Great post! __________________________________
Hi ladies. This is my first post on this board. I'm not yet under the care of an RE, but am starting my IF journey with my first round of tests. I had a very early m/c last June, and have not been able to conceive since.
After meeting with my ob-gyn last week, she gave me a prescription for a HSG, among other things. The office referred me to Zwanger-Pesiri, but it turns out that they no longer do HSGs. The office then gave me a number for Nassau Radiology, but according to their website and telephone menu options, they don't do them either. The office also mentioned Sitron & Hammil, but HSG is not a listed procedure on their website.
So, where did you have your HSG done? Was it through your RE? I am not yet under the care of an RE, as my ob-gyn wanted to do bloodwork, an internal sono, HSG, and SA first to see what's going on.
Also, my doctor wanted me to go for the HSG on CD 5-6. Does anyone know the reason for this? I think that I will be away at that time (although it's hard to predict), so I put a call in to her to see if I should go a different time or wait for the next cycle.
ETA: I just found the HSG under "general radiology" on the Sitron-Hammil website. ________________________________
The funny part about this post is that I never actually went for the HSG. I WAS away for my next cycle, then got PG, then had a second loss, then went to Dr. B.

Re: Your first post EVER on the infertility board
Great idea!
My first official post on IF board: 7/20/10
Based on last weeks post, DH and I decided that we are going to look for a RE, the OBGYN although she is great, we feel we need a specialist. We have been TTC for almost 2 years, but only 3 months with assistance. Can you please tell me how you found your RE? Should my OBGYN refer me to one? What should we look for in searching for an RE?
Thanks ladies!!

Re: Your first post EVER on the infertility board
I have 1 foot back in the IF pool, but wanted to play!
**********************************
Hi Ladies. I don't post on this board very often, but I have a quick question regarding Provera and Clomid.
I have PCOS and I'm starting my first round of Provera/Clomid this month. My doctor prescribed Provera that I will take for 5 days, then Clomid to take for another five. My doctor told me to take the Clomid on days 5-9. Does this mean that I should start taking the Clomid immediately after the Provera, or do I start taking it on day 5 of AF?
Thanks so much!

Re: Your first post EVER on the infertility board
About bringing dh to appts::
mine isnt coming with me. he's come with me on other appointments and was very helpful because sometimes the docs give you so much info that you forget what they say. he also was helpful in asking questions i didnt think of. that said, it dont think its totally necessary for him to go with you. I think you should just go asap and not push it back.

Re: Your first post EVER on the infertility board
Mine was under a different name (HereIAm) on 10/15/09.
---------------------------------------------------------- (I am a regular poster who prefers to remain anonymous)
Well, I just made an appt with an RE after 6 mos of TTC #2 with loads of testing from my OB/Gyn. I have spotting issues (7-10 days prior to AF every month) but all my tests have come back perfectly. We recently learned that DH has some morphology issues. So, today, my OB referred me to an RE, with mention of doing IUI.
I am not really sure how to digest all of this. We conceived DC #1 on our 4th month trying (3 years ago) so there were no issues then.
I am sure I will have a million questions, but my first simple one is, should DH come w/ me to my first RE appt?
Thanks so much! I am so glad this board is here!

My literal fist post was to BaseballWidow when she got her BFP.

Re: Your first post EVER on the infertility board
fun times!!
from 11/12/09
hi everyone. im on the TTC board and have been lurking here a bit as well. DH and I have been TTC for 7 months, BUT i only ovulated once during those seven months . i was just recently diagnosed with PCO, but my only real symptoms are high LH and acne. i was on the pill for 12 years and didnt know there was a problem til i went off and never got a normal AF. as a teen prior to BCP i got AF normal but did have acne.
anyway to make a long story short, i just started seeing Dr. Braverman last week. he is amazing, but my insurance wont cover many of his services.
anyway my LH levels came back at 21. i am on CD4 now and am doing my first clomid cycle 50mg. he also prescribed me dexamethasone to reduce the amount of LH my body produces. i googled this and found very little research. has anyone used this before? it freaks me out a little cause its a steroid but the dose is really low.
thanks for reading this far!!

Re: Your first post EVER on the infertility board
I will play since I gave pennycat a shout out in my first ever post on the IF board...Meanwhile this month femara didn't work!
February 2011:
CD3 APPOINTMENT!
So i had my big appointment last night and it went great. Thanks Pennycat for all your advice and your husbands knowledge Chat Icon .
I am taking Femara day 5-9 coming back in exactly a week for a check and then back to back IUI's.
I have read that its better to take Femara 3-7. I went in on CD5 so I didn't really have a choice.
Does it matter if you do cd3-7 or cd5-9? Is there more sucess either way? I ovulate on my own as of what we know, so this is just an "incase" anyways.
TIA!

Re: Your first post EVER on the infertility board
It is very strange that you posted this.....here is my first post: ________________________________
Hi Ladies,
I guess I am officially joining this board. I posted on the intro thread over the summer but never really posted much bc DH and I decided to keep trying a bit on our own. Well, after a couple of urology visits lately, the Dr believes DH has bilateral variocele. He is doing some more tests and another SA to confirm and look at some other things. I am honestly a bit scared of what steps might come next. I feel I know very little about this end of TTC, especially after reading some posts. So, I apologize in advance for any questions that will be repeats or silly. Thank you in advance for your support!!

Wow Carole!! This is so weird also because I made MY first post on January 18, 2010 which was also the day of my consultation with Dr.B. Jack's due date was January 18, 2011!!! In the meantime, if all goes well with this baby, I told Dr.B i want my "graduation" date to be on January 18, 2012

Re: Your first post EVER on the infertility board
i'm just beginning down this road after an early m/c (oct-nov) and a chemical pregnancy (may). i had a consult with dr. san roman a few weeks ago, and after AF arrived yesterday to my routine disappointment, i have my first cycle monitoring appt tomorrow. i'm a little scared only because i'm afraid i'll find out something is really wrong, but on the other hand, i'm relieved that i'll finally have some answers after going through many months of anxiety over this with not-so-thorough gyns.
lurking through these posts here, i admire the strength and hope your girls have shown me. it helps me feel more positive about the future. baby dust to all

Re: Your first post EVER on the infertility board
IUIs with your regular OBGYN?
My regular obgyn offers in office IUIs....its cheaper to do it there then at a fertility clinic. I started clomind last month and had an IUI done, but it was not sucessful. My insurance does not cover IUIs, IVF or AF, so my husband and I decided for the present time to have IUIs done with my OBGYN.
Due to current fiancial issues, my husband and I are not going to a fertility clinic yet, but we don't know the sucess rate of IUIs done in regular obgyn offices....
Was wondering if anyone else did this and if it worked, please take poll below.

Re: Your first post EVER on the infertility board
Pennycat, this was a brilliant post. I can't believe I used to think things were soooo bad. Hah, I had no idea.... I wish that I had joined a long time ago. I never even went to the TTC board. hmmm.. ________________________________ my first post:
Hi everyone, I am posting now after lurking for a few weeks. Everyone seems wonderful and supportive, and I could use your advice.
I am married 8 years with occasionally using BC, we had a "whatever" attitude since we've been together since we were teens before getting married. Happy, wonderful, loving marriage that makes people jealous and/or sick Chat Icon
all joking aside, I was diagnosed with MS in 2007. Had to be on meds and not PG for 1 year before getting clearance to come off meds and begin TTC- needless to say, it didn't happen. i had a relapse and had to remain on meds 1 more year. Chat Icon I was ready to go, but my body wasn't. Very regular cycle, very regular ovulation, good health, weight etc. Got the green light in January of 2010 Chat Icon and began TTC in March (informally) and finaly figured out what to do in July. Geot the CBEFM and tried that. By November, I felt we had to amp things up.
regular Gyn recommended an internal pelvic sono, HSG, full blood workup and endocrinologist visit. Continued TTC to no avail. All tests came back negative.
2 questions: 1 =how do I get hubby (36 but as old-fashioned as DIRT) to go for testing? He still believes that this is "God's plan" and that we should keep TTC. Chat Icon I don't have the luxury of time (need to be back on meds soon) nor age. This is devastating to me, since we are always together on everything.
2= I have an appointment at Hershlag/Cohen soon What can I expect, and what are some other tests I need to have? What could be wrong?
thank you all for listening.... Rascal

Re: Your first post EVER on the infertility board
Holy Cow: 2007 and I'm now 40
--------------------------------------------------- I am 36 and DH is 40. We have been TTC for 9 months and decided that it was time to see about assitance. We had our initial consultation last night and I am so overwhelmed...if there's NOTHING wrong it's only a 20% chance on clomid? Is it normal for the RE to suggest clomid for 3 months and then move directly to IVF? My insurance only covers 10K lifetime which means clomid and 1 1/2 IVF. So basically if nothing after first IVF i'm TFS because i'm out of insurance money. Is IF a "pre-existing" condition? Could I change insurance companies and "start all over?" So sorry i have all these questions I just have absolutely no idea where to start thinking about this. RE took blood last night and DH has SA in a week. Any help from you all is greatly appreciated!!!

Re: Your first post EVER on the infertility board
Here's mine back in Oct 2008:
Hello ladies,
I've never posted on IF before (just TTC) but I've recently made an apptmt with RMAofNY and wanted to see if any of you have any feedback on them? With Dr. Grunfeld
I've been off BC since March, but have only gotten 2 periods since then. So, I'm going to see what's the issue. wish me luck!
to all of you!
