Your opinions re: Housewarming type party...
So, long story short my sister got married by a justice of the peace about 6 months ago. There was no formal party, no shower...nothing. Her and her husband just bought a condo. We'd like to throw them a housewarming shower type party because they really have nothing for their home. Has anyone ever thrown a party like this? We want it to be a surprise. What are your thoughts? Is it desperate looking? Thanks!

IMO I think its a sweet, thoughtful idea. Im guessing they didnt register anywhere but maybe you can do some kind of "theme" or give people "hints' as to what they need.

Re: Your opinions re: Housewarming type party...
I was thinking of telling her to register somewhere because people would want to buy her stuff.
Another question..do you think it should only be women? Like at a shower?

Re: Your opinions re: Housewarming type party...
how about a pantry shower?
Depending on how many people are invited, you could ask them to bring a basic cooking ingredient & utensil to stock the pantry?
flour, sugar, spices, etc.
OR you could assign them a letter of the alphabet and ask them to buy something for the home starting with that alphabet!
OR: ask for favorite recipes, you have a binder to put them in at the party and the recipe they bring, they bring some of the dry ingredients (like the spices needed for it)
OR: again, depending on how many people are invited, assign a certain number of guests to each room of the house Bedroom: sheets, candles bathroom:towels, toothpaste, toiletpaper, shower curtain, soap kitchen: utensils, stock the pantry, cookbooks, small appliances (slow cooker, blender, etc) living room: photo frames/albums, lamps, candles, framed art, DVD's
instead of a wishing well, you could do a small 4 x 6 photo album, and each person can put a gift card in it OR a 4 x 6 recipe card with the recipe on it
