Your thoughts on red cross cpr/first aid???

I thought it was necessary to take infant CPR and first aid through the Red Cross. It is a reputable organization and it sounds important. Well, I searched for locations and times close to me, and their pediatric cpr/first aid combo class... And it was $105 per person and 5 and 1/2 hours long... which really doesn't sound appealing as DH and I don't have the extra $210 floating around PLUS he would have to take time off of work to get to the class for the full 5.5 hours... so now we were thinking about skipping it but I feel a little hesitant. Is anyone else taking these classes or anyone who feels it is not necessary to take them?

DH and I are taking infant CPR through our hospital, south nassau. It's a three hour course on a Saturday, and I think it cost about $70 total for the two of us.
