Yuck, Shots.... questions/concerns

Bumpd.... Anybody else with advice please? I just talked to my husband and the poor little guy is still miserable... Help! Please!

So, my poor poor DS yesterday got three shots and the oral vaccine for Rotavirus. Included in those shots was the flu shot. Yesterday during the day you would never know he had gotten them. He was an angel.... Perfect little happy guy. I put him to bed at 8:30pm (his normal bedtime) and at 9:30 he was up crying more and louder than I have ever heard him. I had to give him the rest of his nighttime bottle to calm him down and he didn't sleep good all night. He moaned and groaned and whined all night long. He was so restless. I don't think he slept longer than a solid hour. When I finally got him up this morning at 4:45 he felt really hot to me. I have been giving him Tylenol every 4-6 hours since yesterday. Does this sound normal for shots? I'm so worried about him.... Somebody please give me some advice....Chat Icon

I'm not sure how old your DS is, but I do remember that at one set of shots for my DS (I think it was his 4 month shots? not sure), he was absolutely MISERABLE for days afterwads.. and normally he tolerates shots VERY well..

There is always the chance of crankiness/fever after they get their shots.. sounds like your little guy is having a tough time, but it also sounds normal. If it continues for a few days, though, I would call your ped just for peace of mind.

I'd say DD was worse the day after she got her shots than the day she actually got them. She was a mess the next day and it was a real project to finally get her to fall asleep. She seemed to come back around a few days after the shots.

Devin just turned 6 months old on 10/12. He tolerated his other shots decently. But he's pretty miserable last night and today. It stinks. I just hope it passes quickly.....Chat Icon
