Yummy Appetizer...Egg Rolls
I made these this weekend and they were soo friggin good. I am a chinese fanatic and liked em better than the chinese restaurant. DH hates chinese and practically ate them all. The rolling can be a bit time consuming, but the cool thing is you can prepare them in advance and freeze them. Ok without further delay.....
EGG ROLLS
2 cups of cabbage..finely chopped 1/2 cup of carrots..finely chopped 3 green onions..finely chopped 1 lb of ground pork 2 tbsp of Oyster sauce 1 package of egg roll wrappers (we actually used the wonton wrappers, which are the same thing, but smaller..I wanted bite size egg rolls)
In frying pan..brown ground pork for about 3 minutes...Add cabbage, carrots and onion, cook for two more minutes..add oyster sauce (I added a little extra of this because I love the flavor)..cook for 2 more minutes. Let mixture totally cool. Take about a teaspoon and a half of mixture and place in center of wrapper, wrap acording to directions on wrapper package. Have water handy, it helps to seal the edges. We deep fried them...heat oil to 350, drop a few in at a time...turning occasionally, until golden for about 2-3 minutes, drain on paper towel.
To oven bake...brush each egg roll with a little oil, bake until crisp on bottom, about 7 minutes, then turn and bake an additional five minutes. (350)
I also had a little of this honey soy sauce that I added into the mixture, but if you can't find it its not necessary, the oyster sauce has more than enough flavor!!
Enjoy!!!
I have already added these to my Christmas appetizer menu!!
