Yup, we're officially in over our heads
So, I'm helping our neighbor, the wife, file an order for protection against harassment/stalking, and getting her in touch with free legal aid services in our area to file for her divorce.
Meanwhile, DH got a call this morning from the husband. He begged DH to talk to him because he has no one to talk to, considering his parents are LOCO, and these kind of things are NOT talked about in the orthodox community.
He told DH he respects his opinion and wants his advice on how to be a better father and husband and how to get his life together  So, they're going to talk tomorrow.
Think we can start charging for our services?

Beth you guys are amazing - but maybe it's time to introduce them to a third party that can help them out - and get you out of the middle?
A therapist, rabbi, marraige counselor?
I just don't want to see you get TOO deeply involved in their troubles.

I agree. This guy doens't sound too balanced, and what if he decides to blame you and/or DH for what happened?

It seems like you and DH can't win! Maybe your DH can talk to him about getting his life together and going to rehab. This guy will have to learn to take care of himself before he can take care of anyone else. Good thing they have you two!!!

I know, this is getting a little too involved for us. They both have an appointment with their rabbi to talk TODAY. The problem is, however, that they are part of the orthodox community. The rabbi is extraordinarily conservative, and I suspect he doesn't have much experience with this kind of thing, as it's really shunned in that kind of community, and usually the rabbi's role in orthodox communities is to work on keeping the family together, which really isn't the best for anyone at this point.
But, who knows. We'll see...
