Zambrano
Well it looks like all the Mets fans that wanted Zambrano gone are probably going to get their wish.
Its not official yet... but I am most likely predicting Zambrano will be gone for a LONG time with this injury.
While most fans wanted him out... they are now going to realize that the alternative isn't going to be better.

Re: Zambrano
Even though I am not a huge Zambrano fan....I feel bad for him. Todays paper says he'll be out for the season. And I agree-the Lima alternative doesn't make me too happy either.

Re: Zambrano
Don't be surprised if the Mets now enter the Clemens sweepstakes.
They definitely have the money to throw at him... and are better off financially at this point than the Yanks and Houston.
As much as I hate Clemens... with the start the Mets have... this is a no-brainer because:
- Costs us nothing in prospects
- Will not put us over the luxury tax (we are exempt from luxury tax this year)
- Heilman is better suited for the pen
- Don't really have anybody else to step up
Can you picture Clemens starting a game in Yankee stadium against the Unit in a Mets uniform? Scary.

The thought of Clemens as a Met in Yankee Stadium is scary!!!

Today's outcome of the game wasn't pretty either.

I wouldn't call it the "worst" game of the year. The worst game of the year without a doubt was game 2... where Wagner blew the save and Julio lost it in extra innings.
Blowouts like this really aren't a big deal. Our big three in the bullpen got much needed rest. And they kicked the crap out of our #5 starter (really a #7 if you factor injured players).

Re: Zambrano
Although I love going to Shea, I wish the game could've been a little closer not that I expected much with a Smoltz v. Lima match-up.
On the Fan today, someone said the Astros supposedly offered $20 million for Clemens. I highly doubt he'll be in a Mets uniform. I'd like to see Heilman in the starting rotation.

Clemens in a Mets uniform: PRICELESS.....
I don't like him but it's worth it to see the reaction of Yankee fans.
I would like to see Heilman in the starting rotation too. Geez I just hope our whole pitching staff is not falling apart.

Re: Zambrano
I was thinking if their pitching got thin, they would make a run for Zito. I know it's too early in the season, but lets see how we look come July.

Re: Zambrano
I don't want Zito. He has stunk up the joint the past few years. The A's will want too much for him... plus he is a FA after this season.
Don't waste prospects to get him. Just sign him in the offseason.

I agree, but I think we may need another arm!
