have you found this helped your DC?

we just got some from the pediatrician b/c DS has been fussing way more than usual after eating, arching his back , etc. the GI dr. and GI series say everything was fine, but this was amonth ago. So im not sure if there is an acid problem now (sometimes when he burps he cries.)

the medicine bottle says 2-3x's a day..i think thats kind of alot.

just wondering others experience using this.

thanks!

Re: zantac users

It actally has helped. I was originally doubtful especially given what I had read on here about it so I didn't try it until a couple of weeks after the GI doc suggested it (he gave us the option).

I noticed a difference about a week later in how fussy Joshua was after his bottles. He would always cry when being burped 1/2 way through and again at the end. Feeding time had become such an unpleasant experience. It got so much better!

Recently Joshua started crying again after his bottle, especially the night one (the med is 2 x day so his night bottle was right around when it would wear off). I realized that his weight had significantly increased and that he probably needed his dosage adjusted. It was adjusted and we are back to crying-free bottles! Chat Icon

He was originally prescribed .75ml 2xday when he was 9 lbs. Now at 11 lbs he was prescribed 1.5 mls 2xday. I think its a bit much so I only give him about 1.25.

Re: zantac users

the Ped put Sophie on it at 3 weeks old. also instructed us to keep her on an incline at all times and to use cereal in her bottles. AFTER we started all of this her projectile vomiting got much worse.

we went to a Ped GI and he suggested switching to Dr Browns. she rarely vomits now, and we cut the zantac a month ago. i cut the cereal last week.

in the end, im not sure it was reflux at all. probably just a touch of colic, along with a baby who is a VERY poor self-soother. and I honestly believe the horrible vomiting was due to the playtex nipples. we had to "modify" them, and I think they ended up being too fast for her.

Re: zantac users

Didn't help us at all - in fact, we could hardly ever get DD to take it in the first place because she hated the taste. I later found out that peppermint is not a good flavoring for acid reflux sufferers to begin with so I thought it was weird that they would flavor it that way.

I tried to give it to her for about a week. After that I gave up and followed my mommy instinct that she was just a spitter-upper, not a reflux baby. She outgrew the spitting up at about 6 months.

James is supposed to take 1ML 3x a day. he's been on it for about a month and I found that it's not helping him at all. He's still spiting up. Chat Icon

Zantac made my DD worse. We switched to Axid and it made a world of difference Chat Icon

She stopped spitting almost completely and I always knew when she was growing and needed a bigger dose because she would start spitting again. Maybe see if you can switch meds if you aren't seeing a difference.

Hated it. Gave her the worst bowel movements and did not help at all. We actually switched to Alimentum formula. That is all she needed. She has been on it since 7 weeks....
